ChildFree DFW
Q. What is ChildFree DFW?
A. ChildFree DFW is an all-volunteer, non-profit social club for couples and singles who, for whatever reason, have never had children. ChildFree DFW is not allied with any religion, political entity, business, organization, or institution. We are simply a social club aiming to facilitate childfree people meeting new childfree friends and rely upon our members to volunteer their time to organize our activities.
Q. Who qualifies as Childfree?
A. Childfree people are not parents, never have been parents, and most have no desire to ever become parents. Each individual has his/her own personal reasons for making this choice.
Q. What are the qualifications for joining and participating in ChildFree DFW?
A. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has no children and has never parented.
All adults meeting the above criteria, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, cultural or linguistic background, marital, social, or economic status, political, sexual or religious orientation, are invited to join and may attend any event. Non-custodial parents and empty-nesters are not eligible to join ChildFree DFW. Children are never welcome at any event. |
Q. Does it cost to join or participate?
A. Since We are NOT a business and no one gets paid for their contribution, membership is free. Expenses incurred for the website are covered strictly by donations made by members. Note that many activities require money for participation, and attendees at dinners and other events must pay their own tab.
Q. How do I get involved?
A. First, start by registering for this site and stopping by the forums to meet other locals, scope out events, or suggest your own activities. Check out the calendar on this site and feel welcome to attend any of the events.
Q. Do I need to RSVP?
A. Yes, we encourage that your RSVP, and for some events it is mandatory (i.e. if reservations are required for an event). In addition to being polite, it will help establish the number of attendees so that we may reserve adequate seating. RSVPs are typically handled in the Forums or via email.
Q. Why are you no longer associated with No Kidding!?
A. Several factors contributed to our decision to secede (see the forums for the discussions), but in a nutshell, our group came to a parting of the ways with the No Kidding! mothership up in Canada as our local chapter evolved into a different entity than theirs. What our members wanted from a social group was no longer compatible with the NK! guidelines.
No Kidding! is open to all non-parents, including those who just don't have children yet, but our group prefers to cater to a more specific demographic: people who don't have kids and have made a conscious choice to never have kids. Thus, our membership is not open to those with parenting aspirations (childless vs. childfree), as the intent of our group is not only to connect with like-minded people, but also hopefully to foster lasting friendships. |
